Hi Mary,

We should have another conversation about the Department of Comparative Literature. L&S cannot afford to sustain the department or rebuild it. I would like to talk with you about voluntarily closing it down over the next year or two. I think this is the best way to protect the interests of the students who are in the program and the faculty members.

We can wait until the semester is over to discuss this but I wanted you to be thinking about it.
