Dear Professor Saiz,

As Gary and I have been discussing potential agenda items for the next L&S APC meeting, he mentioned that he'd like to give the council members a quick progress report regarding the ongoing discussions with the Department of Comparative Literature .  As part of the dean's announcements, this item would consist of a descriptive overview, intended only to let the APC know that discussions are under way.  There are no background materials for distribution, and no action would be sought or taken.

I wanted to be sure that you were aware that this informational point is likely to be on the APC's agenda on January 24, so you may attend if you wish to do so.   The APC meets, as you know, from 3:30 - 5:00 on Wednesday, in the Dean's Conference Room in South Hall.  This announcement would fall at the beginning of the meeting, and the topic won't take long. 

I'll send a proper notice along when the agenda is finalized.
